Restaurant Pairings

We're trying something new here at Cellar 503, and it's perfect if you've been thinking about joining the wine club but aren't ready to commit just yet.

Wines are available after the 15th of the month and can be picked up at our SW Portland tasting room (no cost), shipped to you via FedEx ($19.99) or delivered to your door in the Portland metro area ($5).

Are you a Cellar 503 member? These are the same wines you'll get in your shipment, but if you'd like extras, be sure to use the promo code CELLARMEMBER to get 10% off your order.

The last few months have reminded us how important it is to not only drink local but to eat local as well. Each month, we will partner with a different Portland-area restaurant to pair dishes with the wines we feature. So, after you get your wines, order take-out and enjoy a fabulous pairing!

To help you enjoy great Oregon wine and great local restaurants, we're offering a one time purchase of two-bottle and four-bottle selections that pair perfectly with our featured restaurant of the month (while supplies last).

Start by ordering wine on our website -- no club commitment required. And once you've received your wines, contact the restaurant and place your order anytime that month. We'll announce our restaurant and wine pairings at the beginning of the month and you can get a hold of your wines after the 15th of the month.

November 2020 Pairing

It's time for Thanksgiving -- a time to enjoy food and family, which can make wine pairings challenging.

To make it a bit easier, we've partnered with local food pro Katherine Deumling, founder of Cook With What You Have, a recipe subscription service. She's developed a few great Thanksgiving dishes, each paired with our wines this month.

October 2020 Pairing

Our theme this month is Italian Varietals in Oregon. There are a growing number of innovative winemakers who are challenging the ideal of the typical Oregon wine. They know that Italian grapes are unique in this land of Pinot Noir and are food-friendly, versatile wines. We're so thrilled to be able to partner with one of our favorite restaurants, Renata for this months food and wine pairing.

September 2020 Pairing

Our theme this month is Back To School: Unusual Varietals and Winemaking Techniques. These are delicious, and out-of-the-box wines that pair easily with many dishes. So we called our friends at Olympia Provisions and they jumped at the chance to pair some of their favorite dishes with these wines!

It may seem like a natural combination, but it can take skill and experience to put together the right wine and cheese combinations.

So, naturally, we've brought in an expert! Steve Jones is the owner of The Cheese Bar, our very own nationally-recognized, cut-to-order retail cheese counter with a rotating selection of more than 200 cheeses sourced locally and from around the world.

June 2020 Pairing

What do you drink with Mexican food? Most folks immediately turn to beer or tequila.

But I’m here to tell you that wine goes amazingly well with Mexican food. And to prove it, we collaborated with Cellar 503 member and founding chef of Portland restaurant Tamale Boy, Jaime Soltero Jr., to feature wines this month that pair well with Mexican food.
