North Valley Vineyards

North Valley Vineyards Compass Pinot Noir

Partnership

North Valley Vineyards was originally formed as a dedicated Partnership between Tony & Michelle Soter (of Soter Vineyards and Mineral Springs Ranch in Carlton) and Winemaker James Cahill, representing a unique combination of deep, collective experience and genuine passion. James is now shepherding the brand as it begins a new chapter, independent of Soter Vineyards. The new project has two estate vineyards as its foundation and will continue collaboration with grower partners we have worked with for more than a decade, truly a “North Valley Collective”.

Winemaker, James Cahill, is a veteran of over 20 harvests in Oregon's Willamette Valley. His winemaking history includes time as Director of Operations with our esteemed colleague, Beaux Freres, Associate Winemaker and Vineyard Manager at Elk Cove and, finally, as Winemaker alongside Tony Soter at Soter Vineyards where the North Valley project began. His commitment to the study of wine and his broad range of experience embodies our winemaking philosophy.

Cellar 503 Tasting Notes

North Valley Vineyards, Newberg, Oregon
Compass Pinot Noir

Aromas of black tea, mirabelle plum and baking spices with flavors of blackberry, cassis, kirsch, hibiscus rose and cacao nib. Polished and juicy on the finish.

Sourced exclusively from the six nested AVA's in the Northern Willamette Valley

"Notes of cocoa-dusted cherries, ripe raspberries, licorice and moist earth. Juicy and succulent on the palate with medium body and firm tannins. Delicious dark cherries with toasty, spiced character to close. Drink now." James Suckling 92 points Drink 2023+

"Entices with a rich bouquet of dusty autumnal spices, peppery florals and dried black cherries. Silky-smooth with polished red berry fruits underscored by saline minerals and brisk acidity. This finishes crisply refreshing and long with a coating of fine tannins and hints of spice" Eric Guido, Vinous Media, 91 Points
