Naumes Family Vineyards 2024 "Reflections" Estate White Pinot Noir

Stomp Vineyard Block 2B

The family that farms together...

This is a story of two farming families in Southern Oregon. Direct competitors in the pear and apple business, Mike Naumes knew that if he wanted a date with Laura Earnest that he’d have to earn it by helping load her family’s orchard trucks.

Fast forward a few decades and Mike and Laura raised three kids (triplets!) and over 3000 acres of apples, pears, and cherries in California, Oregon and Washington. In 2012, they had to rip out a lot of apple trees and decided to plant wine grapes instead of fruit trees. It was Laura’s passion that drove the decision.

Her love of wine and interest in viticulture and enology helped them plant their original 6 acres that has now grown to 85 acres. The old orchard sites were a perfect spot to grow grapes. The family strongly believes that the best way to manage something is to understand every step of the process, so it is not unusual to see Laura out in the vineyard planting, pruning, and babying her vines.

Laura works closely with her winemakers to ensure that the wines reflect where they are grown. And it’s still a family operation, with all three children active in the day-to-day operations of the business.

Naumes Family Vineyards, Talent, Oregon
2024 "Reflections" Estate White Pinot Noir

Subtle red fruit (raspberry, candied strawberry, rhubarb) with a slight wet stone minerality is what first hits aromatically in the glass. This progresses to a complex matrix of mandarin orange and peach on the palate with angular acidity. Enjoy this aromatic white with a delightful farm to table fresh summer salad. Enjoy!

Vinification notes: Grapes were handpicked early in the Harvest 2024 season on August 29th, 2024. Much like a blanc de noir, to make this white pinot noir as zippy and aromatic as possible we employed similar press protocol as producing a sparkling base wine. That means long light pressing with many low-pressure increases. Post pressing the juice was inoculated with the yeast strain 58W3. 58W3 is an aromatic white wine yeast isolated in the French wine region of Alsace famous for varietals such as Semillion, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer. Much of this pick was determined by acid. Not overwhelming but necessary to create a fun approachable wine for summer drinking. A long cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks drove home the expressiveness of this wine.

Description: Naumes Family Vineyards is thrilled to release the new stainless steel / 100% tank fermented “Reflections” White Pinot Noir.
