Lundeen Wines 2019 Articulate Chardonnay

Four generations on the land

Michael Lundeen is a member of an increasingly rare group of people these days in the wine world: a native Oregonian. He grew up in Salem, went to the University of Oregon, and majored in journalism.

But after publishing just one magazine article, the wine bug bit and he was off on his passion project. He worked his way up at a variety of wineries throughout the valley, even spent some time in Italy working harvests.

Today, Michael spends most of his days as the head winemaker and general manager of one of our other winery partners, Walnut City Wineworks, but fortunately for us he also produces his own wines.

Even more unique, the land he farms for a good portion of his grapes has been in his family for generations. As Michael says, “My journey to produce expressive and elegant, site-driven wines in the Willamette Valley really began with my father’s father and now has moved through me and calls to my son, Colin. Four generations of Lundeens have now cared for this land we call home.”

Lundeen Wines, McMinnville, Oregon
2019 Articulate Chardonnay

This is one of those Chardonnays that makes the ABC folks (“Anything But Chardonnay”) sit up and take notice!

Very French in style, this 2019 Articulate Chardonnay is not an over-the-top buttered popcorn California-style Chardonnay. Michael has really made a name for himself in the world of sparkling wine and you can see why in this Chardonnay. Delicate flavors and high acid make this a great food wine and a great base for his sparkling wines.

Michael’s Articulate brand wines aren’t made in every vintage but when a stand-out barrel emerges, Michael takes note and produces a wine such as this Chardonnay.

Light golden yellow, you’ll get aromas of lemon, pineapple, and pastry crème along with flavors of green apple, lime and white peach. This is a wine for the acid-lovers out there and will be great with cheese or creamy pasta dishes.
